Verifone – VASC Field Service Bulletin: Secure Pump Pay & Smart Pump Access

VASC Field Service Bulletin

Verifone MX760 & MX700 Secure Pump PayOVERVIEW

Verifone announced in August 2014 that they entered an agreement with Gilbarco such that Gilbarco would become the integrator, distributor and service provider for all Verifone’s forecourt payment systems. Any pre-partnership commitments and agreements would continue to be honored in respect to Verifone’s Paymedia (Secure Pump Pay program).Verifone Smart Pump Access

During this time, Verifone’s new strategy with Gilbarco would be to continue to collaborate and engineer products sold under the Gilbarco sales channel. The current product is known as Flexpay IV and is exclusively available from Gilbarco for use with their model dispensers and retrofit kits.

Verifone stopped producing its Secure Pump Pay product line in July 2016 and existing inventory on- hand was used to fulfill existing contractual commitments. Beginning September 30th, 2019 only clients who are under existing contracts will receive support and repair from Verifone for their SPP devices. This includes the
Secure Pump Access (SPA) device.

Verifone’s mission is to deliver high-quality payment solutions based on powerful new technologies that lower your cost of ownership and enhance the efficiency of your operations. Verifone looks forward to helping you meet outdoor EMV and other increasingly complex regulatory, compliance and security requirements.

COMPLIANCE INFORMATION

Visa’s U.S. deadline for EMV for dispensers is currently set at October 1, 2020. Additionally, the Verifone SPP is certified either to the PCI 1.x or 2.x standard and both have now been succeeded by versions 3, 4, and 5. SPP PCI 1.x devices should be replaced as soon as feasible because of possible vulnerability based on the age of the device. These are primary reasons Verifone has been forced to phase out repair services for the SPP.

UPDATED 3/19: How to Properly Clean Gilbarco Dispensers

Gilbarco Encore 700

JUST ADDED 3/18/2019: Gilbarco has just released a new document on how to properly clean your diuspensers. Download it here!

Every so often we get asked, “what’s the proper way to clean a dispenser?”  Like anything exposed to the elements, it is going to get dirty and using the improper cleaning techniques or cleaning agents could lead to further damage.    Just like washing your car will extend the luster and life of your vehicle, so will periodically cleaning your dispensers!

Technicians are not responsible to clean dispensers on service calls as this is typically a task that is performed by the station owner/manager.  But it is important that a technician recognize when improper cleaning agents and procedures being implemented by the station show the signs of chemical attack or damage so they can then inform the customer that their methods are doing more harm than good..

Gilbarco has put together a document, Proper Cleaning of Dispensers that you can view and download here.

View the full maintenance instructions from MDE-3893 Encore and Eclipse Owner’s Manual here.

It is always extremely important you follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures, replacement parts and cleaning agents to properly maintain your dispensers to keep them in the most optimal working condition and looking good!  Not only will it cut down on your repair expenses but proper maintenance and cleaning will in crease traffic to your location when it’s looking good and working like a charm.

OPW Introduces the ElectroTite Tank Sump – No Drill DRY Sump Technology

OPW ElectroTite - Is your site underwater? OPW is proud to introduce their newest Watertight Wonder, the ElectroTite Tank Sump

Developed in the collaborative engineering labs of FlexWorks and Fibrelite, OPW’s latest tank sump innovation is the most watertight system on the planet and features no drill dry sump technology. The ElectroTite ships factory-installed with conduit ports and an electrical wiring box, which eliminates tank sump leak points at site installation.

By becoming conduit-entry-fitting-free, the market’s most watertight tank sump is now the most innovative. Extremely versatile, the ElectroTite is available in a wide variety of models to accommodate virtually any tank sump application.

A few of the many innovative features and benefits include:

  • Sealed conduit threads on outside of sump – enter above water table.
  • UL-Listed, explosion-proof junction box allows space to reroute. communication wires and loop additional sensors without entering sump. Junction box is also used for wiring seal off.
  • The “Kwik Wire” junction box is partitioned and allows for high voltage and sensor wires in same box.
  • Reduces the number of entry and leak points into sump.

In the meantime, check out the ElectroTite resources below:

ElectroTite Data Sheet

The sump will be on display at the PEI-NACS show in Las Vegas, October 7-10. Stop by the OPW booth (7021) at the show and see the sump in person and talk with the OPW team about this exciting new innovation!

Please feel free to contact us as well with any questions about the ElectroTite tank sump or any other OPW product at 1.800.451.4021.

From Tuthill Transfer Systems: Hurricane Florence Notification

Tuthill / Fill-Rite LogosThe following message has been reproduced from an email notification received from Tuthill at 10AM on 9/13/2018

“As residents and businesses throughout the Southeast prepare for the onslaught of Hurricane Florence, Tuthill Transfer Systems is focusing its attention on these customers. We have increased our manufacturing output and over the next 5 to 10 days we will prioritize service to those customers who are directly impacted by this storm. With this focus, we will be increasing our lead time on other order 2 to 4 days.
Our customer service team will work with channel partners on identifying and prioritizing existing and new orders to most efficiently serve this region. While we understand that this may inconvenience customers outside of the storm’s path, we believe without question that this is the most appropriate and necessary way to manage our service and dedication to customers.
We appreciate your support and please join us in keeping the Southeast in our thoughts in coming days.”
– Tuthill Transfer Systems –

We also invite you to review our 2 hurricane preparation blog posts from earlier this year with tips on how to prepare your location to minimize storm damage such as shrink wrapping your pumps and dispensers so any pump top signage, hoses and nozzles remain securely in place with minimal (hopefully, NO)  water ingress to your equipment :

The John W. Kennedy Company prays for everyone’s safety and well being in the region as the storm passes through!

A Friendly Reminder For Our Friends in California: Proposition 65 Warning

California and Prop65

Proposition 65, formally titled The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act was passed overwhelming by Californians in 1986 to allow them to make informed choices about their exposure to listed chemicals that may cause cancer and birth defects.

So with that said, several manufacturers have already started placing warnings on those products that contain any of the chemicals listed while others are placing the warning on every product regardless of its chemical composition (a very CYA move and why not in this day and age of constant litigation!).

This process of placing a notice at the product level started after the launch of our eCommerce site when we already had thousands of products listed.  You can see a product detail page from our web store below that shows where you may find the Prop65 Warning:

JWK Prop65 Product Level WarningSo we could get this notice listed quickly on all products, we have a mechanism in our system to provide a link to the CA Prop65 Warning website under the Resources tab towards the bottom of all product detail pages on the johnwkennedyco.com website. We will continue to add the actual warning to product detail pages when that information is made apparent by the manufacturers as to which exact products they sell that fall under Prop65.

Please feel free to visit the CA Prop65 Warning website to learn more about the law and more importantly, which chemicals are listed that could affect you and your family!

And if you’re not compliant, the penalties can be fierce.  Click on the above image to view the “Are You Ready?” video.  You will have to provide your name to view the video.

Check out OPW’s exclusive infographic for reality check on the “Cost of Non-Compliance” below.
