Raymond R. Conley: August 1933 – November 2023

Ray Conley & Charlie CarrollIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the longest tenured employee here at the John W. Kennedy Company, Ray Conley.

Ray started with the Kennedy Company back in 1970. He held several different positions at the company over the years, including purchasing, inventory control, inside sales and customer service. He was a dedicated and loyal employee.  If you had the pleasure to meet Ray, the words warm & fuzzy weren’t the first words that would come to mind.  However, if you knew Ray, you saw a very kind, caring, funny and genuine guy.   He was, as they say, “a foxhole guy!”

Ray was an athlete as well, playing baseball for the U.S. Army and a goaltender for the Rhode Island Reds of the American Hockey League. Ray was also an avid golfer and loved talking sports.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Costello) Conley, brother to the late Joseph “Bud” Conley, and survived by his sister Eleanor (Conley) Perdue. He was the loving uncle of seven nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews.

His visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 8:30-9:30 AM in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence.

Burial with Military Honors will follow at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Operation Stand Down in Johnston, RI:  www.osdri.org .
