While we can not definitively say how or when we originally happened upon this, we do know that it came from the National Group On Leak Detection Evaluations and a great guide for general reference in order to identify various types of nonmetallic piping commonly found in UST systems. They seem to be quite the dedicated independent group of state and federal employees whose full time job is to regulate storage tanks for their agency’s regulatory program.
Are you providing your customer with the safest and best long term performance spill container?
Universal Valve69RT and71CD spill containers are equipped with a Cross-Link Polyethylene Bellow. Research shows that Cross-Link Polyethylene is far superior to Linear Polyethylene.
An Environmental stress test (ASTM method D-1693 for polyethylene plastics) shows that Cross-Link Polyethylene can hold up for thousands of hours with 0 failures as opposed to linear polyethylene’s only, hundreds of hours.
Cross-Link Polyethylene Bellows
Bolted bellows to ring and base – no band clamps to slip off.
Available with or without a drain
SP version easily retrofitted from a rain-tight lid to a water-tight lid (69RT)
Equipped standard with grounding screw. Important when using a fiberglass riser pipe!
Easily Hydro or vacuum testable to meet all new EPA testing regulations

It is a pretty well known fact that most of the Earth’s surface is covered by water so to say it permeates our existence is an understatement.
While this liquid is essential to our existence, it also wreaks havoc on many man-made systems it comes in contact with and in our world of petroleum, it would be classified as a super villain!
And while our industry has been reacting to the havoc water causes for more than a century to develop better ways to keep it out of refueling systems, water intrusion has INCREASED in refueling systems!
The following is an excerpt, written by Ed Kammerer that appeared in the September, 2018 edition of the Fuel Market News. Ed is the Director of Global Product Management for OPW, based in Cincinnati, OH, USA. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. OPW is leading the way in fueling solutions and innovations worldwide. OPW delivers product excellence and the most comprehensive line of fueling equipment and services to retail and commercial fueling operations around the globe. In our ongoing efforts to simplify finding and buying retail petroleum refueling equipment and replacement parts, nothing quite does it like image driven content to help guide your selections. If you are on a desktop or laptop, use your mouse to scroll around the image below to discover the links to many of OPW’s watertight and other line of products found in our online store. JWK Blog Editor’s Note: OPW is constantly adding products to their line and we are always adding and removing products from our web store. While the below image is tied to hundreds of OPW products in our webstore, we are still linking products to the various categories represented in the below graphic and have not linked any OPW Fuel Management Products as of this writing. Product offerings linked to this grpahic will continue to expand over time. Thank you.

OPW is proud to introduce their newest Watertight Wonder, the ElectroTite Tank Sump
Developed in the collaborative engineering labs of FlexWorks and Fibrelite, OPW’s latest tank sump innovation is the most watertight system on the planet and features no drill dry sump technology. The ElectroTite ships factory-installed with conduit ports and an electrical wiring box, which eliminates tank sump leak points at site installation.
By becoming conduit-entry-fitting-free, the market’s most watertight tank sump is now the most innovative. Extremely versatile, the ElectroTite is available in a wide variety of models to accommodate virtually any tank sump application.
A few of the many innovative features and benefits include:
Sealed conduit threads on outside of sump – enter above water table.
UL-Listed, explosion-proof junction box allows space to reroute. communication wires and loop additional sensors without entering sump. Junction box is also used for wiring seal off.
The “Kwik Wire” junction box is partitioned and allows for high voltage and sensor wires in same box.
Reduces the number of entry and leak points into sump.
In the meantime, check out the ElectroTite resources below:
The sump will be on display at the PEI-NACS show in Las Vegas, October 7-10. Stop by the OPW booth (7021) at the show and see the sump in person and talk with the OPW team about this exciting new innovation!
Please feel free to contact us as well with any questions about the ElectroTite tank sump or any other OPW product at 1.800.451.4021.

OPW will be phasing out the FlexWorks® TSMF/TSDF tank sump series at the end of August 2018 to make way for their latest line of tank sumps.
From the engineering labs of FLEXWORKS® and FIBRELITE, OPW has made the best even better. Meet the newest member of the FibreTite Family of sumps, the most watertight sumps on the market today.
Designed to meet all the new 2018 EPA UST regulations
OPW FibreTite tank sumps function as a liquid-tight isolation container providing secondary containment for tank fittings valves, pumps and FlexWorks® or Fiberglass pipe fittings.
FibreTite provides surface access to the tank itself, as well as a clean and dry environment for future service and maintenance. The height-adjustable top-hat accommodates different tank bury depths.
At this time, OPW offers 10 different configurations of the FibreTite tank sump. You can get the FibreTite tank sump in either a 42″ or 48″ diameter with a 33″ or 37″ diameter lid and a height range of 33.5″ to 53″. The sump can be configured with either a solid bottom or collar mount design.
Additional RK-5000 resin kits(sold separately) are required to attach the top hat and collar ring. The additional quantities needed will depend on the FibreTite tank sump configuration you purchase.
The Kennedy Company’s most popular selling TSMF/TSDF series tank sump at this time is the TSMF-4536 medium burial version and will be directly replaced with the FibreTite FTSM-4233CR medium burial fiberglass tank sump with collar ring mount, which can be found by clicking here.
Franklin Fueling Systems is on a tear at the moment as they launch new products and now a line of products under the Cable TightTM brand. The Cable TightTM wire management system boasts the ability to provide a true watertight end-to-end solution for electrical, sensor, and data wire management. Like Franklin’s UPP products, it is an electrofusion welding installation process that creates one seamless system from the HDPE-constructed electrical conduit, entry seals to sumps.
Highly Flexible, Highly Durable
Available in 3/4″ and 1″ in rolls of 1000′ and 1500′ coils, Cable TightTM ‘s highly durable and corrosion resistant materials won’t crack if bent, shatter if hit with a tool or stepped on in cold weather installations after it’s been laid out on a busy job site.
Along with a plethora of configurations, options, tools and information, you’ll find everything you need to get the job done in nearly the same time it takes to install PVC conduit. Franklin has not only created a Cable Tight System website that includes videos and downloads but you can also find Cable Tight under the new Wire Management section of the Franklin Fueling website.
Check out the Cable TightTM overview and installation videos:
Check out this new installation guide video from Franklin’s FFS Pro University, focusing on electrofusion welding for UPP piping, going through the entire process, including measuring, cutting, scraping, cleaning, marking, clamping, welding, and cooling:
